One of the Assignments that another group presented to us was how to make Stop Motion Animation Videos.

Have a look at the steps outlined:

and our final product below :)

Look what you can do with a tablet, a few paper clips, different coloured paper and some crayons!!!

My colleagues Mary B. and Shirany Y. put together a quick Pintrest Google Slide Presentation to introduce the basics of Pintrest and how it can be used to engage Teachers, Parents & Students in the classroom.

I am still in the beginning stages of this forum and found this info indispensable :)

One of my first forays into technology games was Kahoot!

This is basically an online quiz game format that includes catchy music and all the elements of a suspense-filled, nail-biting trivia race.  With Shirany Y. we came up with a Google Slides Presentation to outline the basics of Kahoot! and how to begin creating your own Kahoots!....
or just borrow other's Kahoots! when you're short on time.

My kids love it!

This is great for high school students if you have a class where everyone has their own smart phone and can play independently or if you have tablets where students can play in teams.

I have come to really like this quiz format and use it in class regularily.

I encourage others to have fun with it too!

Another Great assignment I worked on with Angela K., is this Twitter Google Slides Presentation outlining the basics of Twitter and how to get the most out of your Professional Teaching Introductory Twitter Experience.

Have a look and let me know of any topics we may include in the future!

And this is the Completed Assignment on how to edit, modify and share videos on YouTube.
Many Thanks to my group-mates; Mary B., Ashleigh W. and Daniel R., for all their hard work in compiling this together!
Enjoy!

This is the original video uploaded to Youtube.  The next post will describe how a Castifying program, like Screencastify or SnagIt, was used to edit the video in Youtube.
Cheers!

Periodic Table of Education Technology

So back in university I got a poster titled "Periodic Table of Mixology".   I loved the cross-curricular application so much that I still have it hanging in my basement as a tribute to my university dorm days.
These days I am a much older and responsible adult but, my love of everything Chemistry, now extends to the ICT world.
As such I'm including some great visuals of the application of the Periodic Table in ICT.
Enjoy!

Learning about FLUBAROO

One of my colleagues presented in class on a web tool called Flubaroo.  It's a classroom assignment tool that allows teachers to post assignments and quizzes online and grade them through the website, and download summary spreadsheets of student grades and achievement.  Here is a brief demo video from Flubaroo.com

Also, I looked for a video from someone who actually used it in their classroom and I came upon this video by Dave Abouav that walks you step by step through the grading process on Flubaroo.

Using PLICKERS in the classroom.

Another useful tool which I found out about at the #TCDSB21C EdCamp, is Plickers.  This is a website that allows students to use plain paper pictograms as in-class QR codes for quick and easy teacher scanning of multiple choice answers.  You can scan using an Ipad or any Android device.

The App also allows students to instantaneously see their answers, as well as teachers to compile the data and identify which students are struggling and how.

Starfall.com for Little Ones.

Today in my ICT class, another teacher presented about a great little tool they use with primary kids called  Starfall.com.  I am really excited about his because I have two children in pre-school that would absolutely love to play these activities.

If you are already using this I would love to hear from you.  What have you found works for your kids/students?
